HELLO, PARENTS!

Welcome to Good Days Child Care

Thank you for visiting my blog.  For years I operated my home daycare affiliated with an agency licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services.  I accepted both private and subsidized clients and had a wonderful time going so.  As of July 2014 I closed my doors and moved back to my hometown of Sudbury, Ontario.  It was a pleasure and an honour caring for your children and I thank you all for your faith in me and for all the good days!  Take care, and be well.

If you are considering Debbie Burwell of Good Days Child Care as a child care provider for your little one(s), I must say that you are considering a wonderful establishment. Debbie offers children of all ages a nurturing, educational, healthy, safe and fun environment. My now 4 year old daughter became instantly attached to Debbie and the surroundings she provides. It is a wonderful feeling to drop off your child with a huge smile on their face and barely a hug goodbye, and upon pick-up, is utterly unwilling to leave.

I was amazed by the leaps in knowledge my daughter began to demonstrate after a few short weeks with Good Days. She would come home talking about different types of birds, insects, trees, etc., and has shown great strides in her pre-school skills. I know my daughter is ready to enter kindergarten, and I owe much of that confidence to Debbie.

From daily outings to the park, long walks, playtime, reading, writing, arts and crafts, Debbie provides it all. One day I will never forget is one where I could hear through the window Debbie acting out Little Red Riding Hood, much to the children’s sheer delight. It was one of those moments that made me realize just how unique Good Days is. With the approach that Debbie takes, each child is carefully supervised and their individual needs are met.

Another aspect of Good Days that is of huge comfort to parents is the carefully planned and consistently healthy meals and snacks they provide. I know I can count on my daughter coming home with a full tummy, nourished with fruits, veggies, and proteins, all things that give children the energy and good eating

habits they deserve. Along with this, safety is the 1st priority for Good Days, and I never once hesitated at the safety measures Debbie imposes. As I prepare for my second child, I know that I will be contacting Good Days Child Care when the day comes so that my son will have the same amazing day care experience that my daughter has enjoyed.

We are going to miss you so much, Debbie  (and all the lovely children you care for)! Mike and I are truly hoping to reconnect with you next September!
Best wishes,

I am in the field of childcare, being a certified Early Childhood Educator, and choosing Debbie to be with my children was the best choice I ever made! My two children have been in Debbie’s care for over a year now and they have never been happier. Debbie is caring, nurturing and offers stimulating activities daily regardless of the age group; she is just an impeccable person all around.  When your children wake up in the morning and ask for her or sometimes call you by her name, she must be doing something amazing! Debbie is consistent with her discipline and encourages positive redirection when needed, she is very involved in their play and a part of it when they allow but she is also respectful of their feelings and is understanding of any situation.  She is flexible when needed, 100% reliable and offers meals that are nutritious yet appealing to the children.  I recommend her to anyone looking for childcare.

Debbie has been caring for our son Miles, since November 2011 and in our opinion, Debbie consistently provides a safe and nurturing environment for him. Her home is a perfect place for our son to grow, learn and play. She continuously informs us about our sons progress and achievements and her observations about his development. Debbie provides many fun learning activities and plenty of stimuli throughout each day for our energetic son, including lots of outdoor activities. Debbie is an exceptional caregiver who is friendly, caring, Informative and very adaptable. She consistently communicates any information to us in a clam, friendly and easy-going manner. This ease of communication allows us to provide consistent care for Miles at home and at her house and discuss any topic with ease. We highly recommend Debbie as a caregiver for a child of any age and would gladly answer any questions regarding her care.

Hello Debbie,

I am writing to tell you thank you for the joy that you gave to my children Sean and Kelsey. The days they spent in your daycare were great. Each early morning they were excited to come to see you. That showed me how happy they were and how much they were comfortable with you.

I was always impressed by your energy and enthusiasm. It was as high in the evening when I came to pick up the children as it was in the morning. I know your dedication, your warmth and your kindness to the children will always remain the same. I hope all children will find the same happiness that Sean and Kelsey had with you.
I wish you the best in the future and again thank you.

Sean and Kelsey’s mum,

I have known Debbie for over ten years, and I can confidently say she is an exceptionally patient, kind and intuitive person with a natural way with children. I have a three-and-a-half year old girl and a 1 year old boy, and I feel 100% comfortable when my children are in her care--I know that they are safe they are with her.

We have had many playdates together--our girls are very close in age--and I am often impressed at Debbie's parenting skills. She is fun, energetic and playful, and the kids love her. But one of the main reasons I know my kids are safe with her is that she is kind and consistent in setting and maintaining boundaries and limits. She knows how to creatively re-direct conflicts, often with a song or a joke.

She is also very loving with my baby boy. She just seems to know what he is thinking, which is so important with little ones who have few words. And she is great at teaching the preschoolers how to be gentle with the baby. She always gets out age-appropriate toys for my little guy to play with when we come to visit even though her daughter has long out-grown them.

My kids always look forward to visiting Debbie's house. The play spaces are filled with fun and engaging toys, and the girls have spent hours dressing up, playing in the play kitchen, dressing the dolls and getting lost in creative free play. We also have a great time playing at the park across the street.

If I were heading back to work I would book a spot in Good Days Child Care in a heartbeat. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

I am an administrator in the largest licensed daycare in Ottawa. I have known Debbie in a variety of capacities for many years. Words can not express Debbie’s ability to care for children with the most unbiased warmth, love and patience a parent could ask for in a childcare provider.  Her experience as a childcare provider extends over a decade and she is mother and grandmother to 2 toddlers who are the best of friends.

I would like to express that I look on Debbie’s ability to handle difficult situations in regards to “active and curious” children with the utmost respect.  Frankly, I am jealous that she is so capable of staying calm and focused and reacting in a manner that redirects the child in a positive manner.

Debbie embodies the type of character that I believe ANY parent would want to have looking after their child.  In summary, I highly recommend Debra for any position or endeavour that she may seek to pursue. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Lydia Burwell
